CALCULATING THE COST

S.E.E.D. For Today___Count the Cost

Scripture "But don't begin until you count the cost." Luke 14:28 NLT

Jesus uses two parables of building and war to encourage His followers to count the cost. He talks about beginning the construction on a building without calculating the cost or going to war without counsel, so you cannot become a disciple without counting the cost. Both emphasize the necessity to take some time and compute it all. The upside to our failure of obeying God's will is that we don't calculate the cost. Every accomplishment in life requires counting the cost, but many of us want the successes without considering what will it cost me. We beg God to use us, to choose us to do great things for the Kingdom of God without knowing it will cause us to write a check that in the end we can't cash. Jesus is saying look you cannot be my disciple until you give up everything you own, so consider the cost before you start. Who begins construction on a building the Lord says and then does not have enough money to finish it? Why start something that you know you don't have in you to finish. When money or the things it can buy or what our hearts want make us hesitant about doing what we feel the Lord is calling us to do, we are disciples of things and self, not of Christ. Every follower considers what the price will be that's why Christ started with many disciples and ended up with the twelve. Everybody wants ministry, I see God calling me, really, are you willing to pay with your life for it? Before we make these suggestions to God you ought to calculate the cost.

Example  Calculate the consequences of something, the required payment, the estimate.

Exercise Read Luke 14:25-35 Journal and talk to God about the cost. Listen it costs something to be a true Christian. Let that never be forgotten. To be a mere nominal Christian and go to church is cheap and easy work. But to hear the Lord and obey Him will be self-denial. It will cost you, your wants, your ease, your ambitions, your worldliness, all must be given up. Jesus wants us to completely understand this. You either put up or shut up! Be careful what you ask for. The mother of Zebedees sons came to the Lord and asked of Him a favor that her sons sit in a place of honor next to Him. The Lord replies you don't know what you are asking for. No one counted the cost.

Devotion Lord I pray for courage today. I need courage so that after I count the cost I can say Yes Sir! Lord I am calculating right now, all that I'm working on for all that You are wanting to work through me. Lord help me remain Kingdom minded when I know personally there is so much I want to do. Today I realize that I'm only giving up what You have given me and without You I am nothing. I pray everyday I add up what I owe You for life, and I put my hands up and surrender all in Jesus Name Amen.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

THE SAFE PLACE

S.E.E.D. For Today___ Safety Scripture "God is our safe place and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble." Psalms 46:1 New Life Version In light of all that is going on in our world God is the most dependable person we know. Murder, and violence plague our city's and nothing seems to be safe anymore. When everything seems to be falling apart God is our safety, our refuge from the storms of life. He doesn't protect us in order to pamper us, He shelter's us so He can strengthen us to go back to life with it's duties and dangers. Trouble describes people who are in tight places in a corner and unable to get out, but we are not to be afraid. The earth may change and things will be in utter chaos, but in the Lord we have safety. Though everything around us and in us seems to be restless, God is in control. God is our safe place, in His will, in His hands He got the whole world, He formed it, shaped it, created it, and man co...

"Your Time Is Coming!"

"My Destiny and it's timing is in the hand of God." Psalms 16:5 Your way of life, your fortune, your fate, your portion comes from God. Knowing God is to know that He operates in rhythm, seasons, or times. Ecclesiastes 3 breaks down very intricately the seasons, or timing of a man's life or destiny. It tells us in vs.1 that, "Everything on earth has its own time and its own season" ( CEV ) or " Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses." ( GNT ) Being in sync rhythmically with God is so vital to the believer, operating in boundaries of our destiny or fortune, is the ability to flow in purpose. God has a purpose for each of us, you will find it to be your greatest joy as you discover the privilege of understanding the intention of God for your life. There are times as believers we find it difficult to accept what God has given us. There will be times when your ideas of what you want may get in the way of you and God...
