ACTING IN THE FACE OF FEAR




















S.E.E.D. For Today___Courageous

 Scripture "So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord!" Psalms 31:24 NLT

 God had protected David from danger many times. As for the plots of the enemy, the Lord always took care of that too. God's great goodness and marvelous lovingkindness were all that David needed to weather the storm and survive to lead his people. However at one point David may have been ready to give up, It wasn't the enemy that frightened him it was the thought of being abandoned by the God he trusted and served. Fear weakens us and courage strengthens us, therefore we should resist the cowardly thoughts that over take our minds from time to time. Not because we are afraid of people, but afraid of failure, afraid of success, afraid of being lonely, afraid of not knowing and more. Under the pressure of distress we must act in the face of all of of our fears. In the movie The Wiz, the cowardly lion is kicked out of the jungle because he lacked courage. He didn't understand at first that courage is only acting in the face of fear, he learned how to use fear to gain courage. The courage and strength we need in the trials of life are available from the Lord.

Example Courageous not deterred by danger or pain; brave, fearless, valiant, bold, unshrinking, unafraid, lionhearted. The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty.

Exercise Read Psalms 31 Journal and talk to God about your weaknesses and your strengths. Don't be afraid to go through what it is your going through. God is loyal and will protect those who are loyal to Him. Be courageous don't get discouraged from doing what God want to do in your life. Let go of the fear and doubt, everything that preventing you from being made whole. Let nothing prompt you to restrain from acting or proceeding.

Devotion Lord I pray for the quality of mind and spirit that will enable me to face all the difficult moments in my life. I pray that I be lionhearted, steadfast and unmovable. I pray that when it gets overwhelming that I won't shrink, or be deterred by the danger or the pain. I pray that in YOU I will be brave, bold and unafraid. In Jesus Name Amen.

The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. THE SAFE PLACE

S.E.E.D. For Today___ Safety Scripture "God is our safe place and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble." Psalms 46:1 New Life Version In light of all that is going on in our world God is the most dependable person we know. Murder, and violence plague our city's and nothing seems to be safe anymore. When everything seems to be falling apart God is our safety, our refuge from the storms of life. He doesn't protect us in order to pamper us, He shelter's us so He can strengthen us to go back to life with it's duties and dangers. Trouble describes people who are in tight places in a corner and unable to get out, but we are not to be afraid. "Your Time Is Coming!"

"My Destiny and it's timing is in the hand of God." Psalms 16:5 Your way of life, your fortune, your fate, your portion comes from God. Knowing God is to know that He operates in rhythm, seasons, or times. Ecclesiastes 3 breaks down very intricately the seasons, or timing of a man's life or destiny. It tells us in vs.1 that, "Everything on earth has its own time and its own season" ( CEV ) or " Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses." ( GNT ) Being in sync rhythmically with God is so vital to the believer, operating in boundaries of our destiny or fortune, is the ability to flow in purpose.
