TO BE OR NOT TO BE

S.E.E.D. For Today____Hypocrisy

Scripture "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father in heaven." Matthew 6:1 ESV

Our acts of devotion, our piety and the attention that is being sought by many has overwhelmed what true relationship with Christ models. The danger today is that we get caught up in getting the glory instead of God. Hypocrisy takes on two forms, outer appearance and inner appearance, but what is the true reality. The religious posture that exist today seeks to win applause of an audience, one must know that acts of charity is not serving God. Jesus said in Matthew 23:5 "Everything they do is done for men to see; They make their phylacteries wide and their tassels on their garments long;" You may receive the admiration of others but it cancels out what you receive from God.  Hypocrisy has filled our pews and the pretenders our pulpits. Beware of religious exhibitionism, God looks at the heart before the hand.

Example Hypocrisy feigning to be what one is not, hypocrite one who give a false appearance of righteousness.

Exercise Read Matthew 6:1-18 Journal and talk to God. The bible tells us to imitate Christ. Do you live in a manner to please Him or are you seeking the applause of men. The church body has put the spot light on man more than the Savior, our attitudes, our actions, our idioms that we express on social media to draw attention. Pray that you are not seeking to be noticed, but that you are seeking to please God.

Devotion Lord I pray today for humility. I pray that I never get caught up in impressing others with my spirituality. I pray that privately I pray to You, that I read my word daily and not only when I'm with others. I pray that I not mask, pretending to be what I don't work at when I'm alone to be in relationship withYou. I pray to be what You want me to be and not what I am not. I pray to remain true to You in Jesus Name Amen.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

A MATTER OF HUMAN DIGNITY

S.E.E.D. For Today__ Humanity Scripture "So God created human beings in His image. In the image of God He created them. Genesis  1:27 NLT In light of everything that we are facing in our society today, police brutality and the horrific and senseless crimes that we commit against one another mankind must remember that we are destroying God's masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10 tells us;  "For we are God's masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." This was never God's plan He knew that after Adam sinned that all mankind would no longer have His nature so He sent His Son into the world that we would again be like Him. He knows the heart of men, and His message to us is to love one another as you love yourself. Love and hate are at war, this is not about race, this is a matter of human dignity. Example Humanity is the human race the action of humanity is humanness, benevolence, compassi...
