THE RIB

S.E.E.D. For Today_Dealing With The Charges

Scripture "And now, O mountains, listen to the Lord's complaint! He has a case against His people. He will bring charges against Israel. "O my people, what I have done to you to make you tired of Me?  ;"when I did everything I could to teach you about My faithfulness." Micah 6:2-3b,5b NLT

Now Israel has to face God who is now bringing charges against His covenant people. The form of the case against Israel by the Lord is presented in full courtroom drama. The mountains and the foundations of the earth are the jury called to hear the terms of this lawsuit. In setting forth His case the Lord addresses the people with a question "what have I done to you?" In v. 3c He says "Answer Me!" God wants to know how have I burdened you? The contempt against Me and my faithfulness to you, why? Has my love for you become a burden? They had no answer. God reminded them how He delivered them from Egyptian slavery and foreign domination. How He sent the law through Moses to redeem them, the miracles He performed for them, His promises for them how He kept them although they complained and rebelled many times. God had not burdened His people but He was everything for them, their Protector, their Defender, their Redeemer, giving them His grace and mercy more times than they deserved.

Example  The Rib or (reeb) is an Hebrew expression translated as charge, case, complaint, or accusation. The Hebrew verb for the term is to strive or argue a case. Here God now presents "rib" (reeb) against the children of Israel. The complaining and the murmuring God brought it before a court to be heard. Remember these are God's covenant people, they are in a contract agreement, which they have breeched many times.

Exercise Read in its entirety Micah 6 in the New Living Translation. The people had departed from the Lord in attitude and in action and did not even know it. They grew weary with the demands of true faith. Now they are dealing with the charges brought against them by God. What has God done to deserve our neglect of His precepts, why must we fuss about everything He wants to do through us, especially after all He has done. The children of Israel had so much to say, but when the case was brought against them they were silent. God is wounded and we are responsible. Today search your heart and find ways to make restitution for your crimes of murmuring, complaining and rebellion, make a list of why you owe so much gratitude.

Devotion Lord I received the summons to hear Your case. My apologies to you and the court of Heaven and Earth. I'm dealing with the charges, Forgive me, I am now conscious of my ways. Your Word shall I hide in my heart forever that I will not sin against You. In Jesus Name Amen

  1. This is so true. We all been there and must first agree we have sinned and then go before God in humility. Keeping a realationship with God is so vital, not always easy but it is possible.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
