S.E.E.D. For Today_Complain
Scripture "When they came to the oasis of Marah, the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah (which means bitter"). Then the people complained and turned against Moses. "What are we going to drink? they demanded." Exodus 15:23-24 NLT
Andrew Bonar wrote "Let us be watchful after the victory as before the battle, for it's possible to win the battle and lose the victory," which the Jews did after leaving the Red Sea. They forgot that life is a pilgrimage during which we must learn new lessons and fight new battles. One great victory doesn't settle everything, we will always be contenders. We must experience new challenges in order to mature and glorify God. The Israelites just experienced this magnanimous miracle that God performs for there exit out of Egypt. He parts the Red Sea and destroys their enemies right before their very eyes. Shortly after singing and praising God for their deliverance, they get to a place of need and start to complain, "What shall we drink?. God was testing the people not because He didn't know their hearts but they didn't know their own hearts.
Example Murmur, groan, to lament, find fault, kick up a fuss or gripe.
Exercise Using the New Living Translation read the 15th chapter in it's entirety. Evaluate how much you complain on a daily basis, about home, job, money, children, spouse, friends ..etc. Ask yourself what is all the fuss about. If you journal as you should write 3 things that you can do in this week to help you when you start to complain. We don't plan to complain but we do. Take this week and work on you.
Devotion Complaining doesn't solve problems and if we try to run away from a difficult situation, we will meet the same problems in a new place. God is doing things in your life to produce spiritual growth. When we experience trials to complain is evidence that we don't trust God. Lord my prayer today is, please help my unbelief! I pray today that I do not throw my own pity party. I acknowledge that life is not all pleasure, but my trials teach me discipline that there be a balance in the experiences of life. Good and bad go together. I pray that my thoughts will not be of woe, but of praise and gratitude for all you've done. Lord I pray that I will be mindful when I am quick to gripe, murmur, find fault, lament or kick up a fuss. I have so much to be be thankful for so I Won't Complain.
