Lead Us Not Into Temptation

S.E.E.D. For Today_Temptation

Scripture "Pray that you will not give into temptation." Luke 22:40 NLT

Upon arriving at the Mount of Olives, Jesus exhorts the disciples to pray that they not enter into temptation, probably because of His earlier discussion with Simon Peter, that He has prayed that the devil not swift him as wheat. Jesus knows that the disciples will deny Him, a very real danger since Satan is trying to lead them to defect. Prayer will protect them from unfaithfulness and will encourage them to be faithful and persevere. Prayer is important and this is the constant attitude that Jesus needs the disciples to have. In 22:46 "Jesus ask them why are you sleeping, get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation". In Matthew 26:41 He tells them again to "pray so that they will not fall into temptation. "The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." In Mark 14:38 He tells them the same, it is repeated in the tree gospels repeating the call to pray that they will not fail when temptation presents itself.

Example To be entice or lured, attracted or seduced into something, especially to evil and drawn by our lust or desires.

Exercise Read Luke, 22:3-40, Matthew 26:41 and Mark 14:38, compare all three and take in the message that they are all trying to tell the reader. Jesus concern for His disciples was knowing their frailty at a very crucial moment in all their lives. Jesus our Intercessor pleads for us in prayer that our faith not fail us as He did for Peter. "There is no temptation that is not common to man, that with it God will make a means of escape". Prayer warns us, it speaks to us, instructs us for our improvement.

Devotion Lord today lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil and the evil one. I pray that my faith not fail me for I know that Satan desires to sift me as wheat. Strengthen me that I not be lured or enticed by my lust and my desires. I pray that I not sleep, but remain awake and alert in prayer that temptation will not overcome me and have its way, prayer be my attitude in Jesus Name Amen.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you

THE SAFE PLACE

S.E.E.D. For Today___ Safety Scripture "God is our safe place and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble." Psalms 46:1 New Life Version In light of all that is going on in our world God is the most dependable person we know. Murder, and violence plague our city's and nothing seems to be safe anymore. When everything seems to be falling apart God is our safety, our refuge from the storms of life. He doesn't protect us in order to pamper us, He shelter's us so He can strengthen us to go back to life with it's duties and dangers. Trouble describes people who are in tight places in a corner and unable to get out, but we are not to be afraid. The earth may change and things will be in utter chaos, but in the Lord we have safety. Though everything around us and in us seems to be restless, God is in control. God is our safe place, in His will, in His hands He got the whole world, He formed it, shaped it, created it, and man co

"Your Time Is Coming!"

"My Destiny and it's timing is in the hand of God." Psalms 16:5 Your way of life, your fortune, your fate, your portion comes from God. Knowing God is to know that He operates in rhythm, seasons, or times. Ecclesiastes 3 breaks down very intricately the seasons, or timing of a man's life or destiny. It tells us in vs.1 that, "Everything on earth has its own time and its own season" ( CEV ) or " Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses." ( GNT ) Being in sync rhythmically with God is so vital to the believer, operating in boundaries of our destiny or fortune, is the ability to flow in purpose. God has a purpose for each of us, you will find it to be your greatest joy as you discover the privilege of understanding the intention of God for your life. There are times as believers we find it difficult to accept what God has given us. There will be times when your ideas of what you want may get in the way of you and God
