MOUNTAINOUS DIFFICULTIES

S.E.E.D. For Today___Praying and Fasting

Scripture "But this Kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." Matthew 17:21 Amplified Version of the Bible

The disciples had been given the authority to cast out demons and to heal but they had not yet learned effectively how to appropriate the power God had given them. Jesus frustration with the unbelieving and unequipped generation is merely a reflection of the state of the disciples life today. The disciples though walking with the Lord did not have the faith required to deal with this great difficulty that plagued this man's son. Faith must be present to deal with mountainous difficulties. Many times people pray for others with their own abilities because they lack the power of God. Some trouble is more perplexed than others and requires more dependence upon God. Prayer and fasting alone may not accomplish a miracle but faith, discipline, and humility give us hope of producing results. It is hard to deal with great matters when there is a malignant issue going on in us. A writer said; "We cannot expect to drive out the evil spirit, if our state and mind are in harmony with what that spirit produces."

Example Prayer as faith, taking hold on the Lord and deriving strength from Him. Fasting as faith in it's practical renunciation of the world.

Exercise Read Matthew 17:1-21 only in the King James or Amplified Bible. Journal and talk to God the term mountain in verse 20 gives the idea of great difficulty. Most specifically we deal with the mountains of unbelief in our own heads. The disciples miscarried in their work because they reversed the right order. We must measure the corruption in our own lives, don't protect the process we must be free to help others be free. Jesus told Peter that Satan desired to sift him but he prayed for him that his faith would not fail him and when he was strengthened then he was to return and strengthen his brothers.

Devotion Lord my cry is help my unbelief. I know that by faith I can move mountains. I pray that I will examine my own life, and that there are many things I must overcome. I pray to trust You by faith taking hold to you for strength and relinquishing and abandoning not food but my worldly alliances, that I drive out what is malignantly hindering me, that I be healed in Jesus Name Amen.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
