The Price of Pride

S.E.E.D. For Today_Pride

Scripture "Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness (arrogance, self-importance, contempt, vanity, conceit, pomposity) before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 NLT

Before destruction there is more than likely pride. The writer is telling us of the price of pride which can cost a man everything including his life. The writer also shares with us in Proverbs 8:13 God's take on pride, "To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech" (undisciplined lips). Pride was an archangel's ruin, (satan), as it has been the destruction of untold myriads of men and women throughout the ages. It is for the most part that which precedes a fall. God takes note of the least beginning of unjudged arrogance in each heart. No mind can conceive how hateful it must be to Him. We must not let this area in any of us go unchecked in His presence. Pride is an infectious, insidious sin. It invites God's judgment and destroys everything it touches.

Example Pride has its deep roots in the human soul we are taught to have pride, to be proud and strong, to idolize, have dignity, but the bible describes pride another way it sees it as self-regarding love and self-satisfaction with one's person, status, behavior, reputation and traits as sin. Yes sin! God opposes the proud.

Exercise This week's seed is on pride the effects and the affects of it. Today read Proverbs 16:18-19; I Peter 5:5; James 4:6. Pride will yield a regrettable end. Pride will cause you to go to all ends to prove yourself, excusing your wrongs and fueling your ego. This week journal yourself as we look at the Price of Pride.

Devotion Lord my prayer for today is that I let go of my ego and not overestimate self trying to overcompensate for my actual inadequacies. I know that the one who exalts himself will be humbled and the one who humbles himself will be exalted, so I cast down every argument that comes from the arrogance and pride in me everything that exalts itself against your written word. In Jesus Name Amen.

  1. Lord Help Me kill the pride that I carry in my heart. You say in your word that the one that holds on to his life loses it but the one that gives his life ova to you gains life & in order to give anything over I must give over my pride that will bring upon my life a life of humility that is pleasing to you & only you. Help me to stay where you have me planted & the humility to live out your will for my life in JESUS NAME AMEN!!!!

  2. Pride is a destructive trait that we must check on a daily basis. While the world works overtime to create a sense of self importance , we must erase its habit. When I see social media i see the effects of pride with the "selfie" plastered all over. Lets try to do a usie, lets seek someone to love, applaud and plaster on social media. God said we must love others, so lets do this.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

THE SAFE PLACE

S.E.E.D. For Today___ Safety Scripture "God is our safe place and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble." Psalms 46:1 New Life Version In light of all that is going on in our world God is the most dependable person we know. Murder, and violence plague our city's and nothing seems to be safe anymore. When everything seems to be falling apart God is our safety, our refuge from the storms of life. He doesn't protect us in order to pamper us, He shelter's us so He can strengthen us to go back to life with it's duties and dangers. Trouble describes people who are in tight places in a corner and unable to get out, but we are not to be afraid. The earth may change and things will be in utter chaos, but in the Lord we have safety. Though everything around us and in us seems to be restless, God is in control. God is our safe place, in His will, in His hands He got the whole world, He formed it, shaped it, created it, and man co...

"Your Time Is Coming!"

"My Destiny and it's timing is in the hand of God." Psalms 16:5 Your way of life, your fortune, your fate, your portion comes from God. Knowing God is to know that He operates in rhythm, seasons, or times. Ecclesiastes 3 breaks down very intricately the seasons, or timing of a man's life or destiny. It tells us in vs.1 that, "Everything on earth has its own time and its own season" ( CEV ) or " Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses." ( GNT ) Being in sync rhythmically with God is so vital to the believer, operating in boundaries of our destiny or fortune, is the ability to flow in purpose. God has a purpose for each of us, you will find it to be your greatest joy as you discover the privilege of understanding the intention of God for your life. There are times as believers we find it difficult to accept what God has given us. There will be times when your ideas of what you want may get in the way of you and God...
