Pride On The Inside

S.E.E.D. For Today_Pride on the Inside

Scripture "Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride." 1 Corinthians 13:4 ISV

Paul confronts the church at Corinth about their pride. In this church the Christians were haughty, arrogant, and preoccupied with their own importance. Their is another phrase used for this type of pride and that's being puffed up. Being puffed up is what happens to a person who is prideful on the inside. This inflated vanity led the church to even overlook sin. When entering the church a person should definitely fill the spirit of love not self-exaltation. It does not honor God nor the message of the Gospel. The boastful manifestation over advantages, position and titles display negative overtones of the Kingdom of God and His Church. Love does not behave itself unseemly but pride does, it seeks only to promote the one it controls. Pride forms a key element in the psychological construct of narcissism. Pride is definitely the ill-formed approach to the social interaction. Pride thrives on respect and praise from others.

Example Pride on the inside may be the approach in dealing with unaware flaws, pride that compensates for deep personal insecurities. Thinking more of themselves than they really are as means of security. Puffed up and boastful, bragging. Love is not prideful, or arrogant or boastful it does not brag.

Exercise Read I Corinthians 13:4 in the International Standard Version of the Bible. Self-evaluation, do you treat people in church with a haughty and arrogant demeanor because of your pride. Do you compensate through pride for your insecurities? Does pride interfere in your social interaction?

Devotion Lord I pray for the pride on the inside of me that it does not spill into the inside of your church. Deliver us of this evil, pride is listed as one of the things You abhor or hate. Anything You hate I  long to hate as well. I pray for the spirit of humility, I pray for an exchange of pure love in Jesus Name Amen.

  1. Thank you Pastor for the exercise and devotion portion of the S.E.E.D. today. I pointed these out as a need to reflect more on those questions daily and incorporate this prayer into my daily prayer because pride can creep in at any given time.

  2. Yes I totally agree with Khyle Bevans. This exercise shud and needs to be practiced every single day that we don't give room for pride to creep in like a weed that comes from outta no where to choke the life outta you and cause humility to lay dormate in us but we must take on the blessing of humility cause humility causes GOD to move take notice and respond to what we are facing. His word says He'll raise up a standard for us but we have to take the Low road of humility to soar to the High place in GOD!!!

  3. I agree with the comments. Daily reflection of Pride. Its a subtle sin many people will not and do not recognize. I ask God to help me and to counteract the sin of pride we must learn to exalt others before ourself and look for hidden opportuities to serve and not be appluaded by man.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

THE SAFE PLACE

S.E.E.D. For Today___ Safety Scripture "God is our safe place and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble." Psalms 46:1 New Life Version In light of all that is going on in our world God is the most dependable person we know. Murder, and violence plague our city's and nothing seems to be safe anymore. When everything seems to be falling apart God is our safety, our refuge from the storms of life. He doesn't protect us in order to pamper us, He shelter's us so He can strengthen us to go back to life with it's duties and dangers. Trouble describes people who are in tight places in a corner and unable to get out, but we are not to be afraid. The earth may change and things will be in utter chaos, but in the Lord we have safety. Though everything around us and in us seems to be restless, God is in control. God is our safe place, in His will, in His hands He got the whole world, He formed it, shaped it, created it, and man co...

"Your Time Is Coming!"

"My Destiny and it's timing is in the hand of God." Psalms 16:5 Your way of life, your fortune, your fate, your portion comes from God. Knowing God is to know that He operates in rhythm, seasons, or times. Ecclesiastes 3 breaks down very intricately the seasons, or timing of a man's life or destiny. It tells us in vs.1 that, "Everything on earth has its own time and its own season" ( CEV ) or " Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses." ( GNT ) Being in sync rhythmically with God is so vital to the believer, operating in boundaries of our destiny or fortune, is the ability to flow in purpose. God has a purpose for each of us, you will find it to be your greatest joy as you discover the privilege of understanding the intention of God for your life. There are times as believers we find it difficult to accept what God has given us. There will be times when your ideas of what you want may get in the way of you and God...
