Undisciplined Lips

S.E.E.D. For Today_Conversation

Scripture "Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech." Proverbs 4:24 NLT

Don't speak with two mouths for bitter water and sweet water cannot come from the same fountain says James 3:11 as he gives reason why we must bridle our tongues. Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing, but that is not how it should be. Perverse lips is really devious talk that refers to any kind of speech that is misleading, untrue, or deviating from what is acceptable. The heart and the mouth are intimately connected. Our conversation shows the state of the heart. "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." (Matt. 12:33-34) God's children must be careful to have conversation that cannot be condemned as spoken of in Titus 3:8. Colossians 4:6 says to "let your conversation be always full of grace,". We must get rid of our undisciplined lips. "He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin." Proverbs 13:3

Example Your chat or discussions, word exchange, dialogue, gossip, information and ideas, feeling and thoughts expressed.

Exercise Read Proverbs 4:24; Matthew 12:33-34; Titus 3:8; Colossians 4:6; Proverbs 13:3; James 3; Today ask God to help you be mindful of the conversation you keep, whether Facebook, twitter, or instagram, texting etc. You have to set a watch on the door of your lips. One word can start a forest fire, and undisciplined lips are a deadly weapon that can destroy many.

Devotion Lord I pray today for disciplined lips. I pray I stay away from any perverse or devious conversation. Conversation that is misleading of who I am in Christ, untrue, or that deviates from what is acceptable. I pray that the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, in Jesus Name Amen.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
