INESCAPABLE IDENTITY

S.E.E.D. For Today___Holy Nation

Scripture "But You Are A Chosen People, Royal Priest, A Holy Nation, A People For God's Own Possession." I Peter 2:9 New Century Version

Peter writes applying the identification to the people of the new covenant in Christ. The identity of Christian believers are associated with their role as royal priest and a holy nation. In the Old Testament the priesthood involved being sanctified and set apart from the people at large for their ministry in obedience and holiness unto God. In the New Covenant that God has with us today that we have received through His Son Jesus Christ, we now live with this inescapable identity. Royal modifies to us that God is King and that as subjects of this Kingdom we must think of ourselves as holy as it relates to the world, set apart to practice freedom from adulteration and contamination, and for the purpose of God. Royal and Holy describes the nature of our relationship to the Father, we are a people chosen for God, "once we had no identity as a people" but now we are His own special possession.

Example A Kingdom is always synonymous with a nation. Today the Universal Church is the nation. We live in conjunction carrying out the constitution of the Kingdom of God, setting ourselves apart under the governing of His word.

Exercise Read I Peter 2:1-10 Journal and Talk to God; Today as the church many neglect teaching the emphasis on the inescapable identity of every believer. In a world full of choices it's hard to set ourselves apart from what seems so normal to our natural man. But God said to be Holy for He is Holy created in His image and brought with Christ blood we must understand who we are. We must pray for the restoration of holiness as the ruling interest of our faith.

Devotion Lord my prayer for today is help! Help me not to escape the reality of who I am in Christ. I pray that I will live in Your holiness, mindful of Your grace and that You chose me for relationship and Your purpose. I pray to remain faithful to You and not to my flesh. I pray to live in the splendor of God's holiness, that through me Your glory can be displayed in the earth, through truthfulness, compassion, forgiveness and love in Jesus Name Amen

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you

THE SAFE PLACE

S.E.E.D. For Today___ Safety Scripture "God is our safe place and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble." Psalms 46:1 New Life Version In light of all that is going on in our world God is the most dependable person we know. Murder, and violence plague our city's and nothing seems to be safe anymore. When everything seems to be falling apart God is our safety, our refuge from the storms of life. He doesn't protect us in order to pamper us, He shelter's us so He can strengthen us to go back to life with it's duties and dangers. Trouble describes people who are in tight places in a corner and unable to get out, but we are not to be afraid. The earth may change and things will be in utter chaos, but in the Lord we have safety. Though everything around us and in us seems to be restless, God is in control. God is our safe place, in His will, in His hands He got the whole world, He formed it, shaped it, created it, and man co

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda
