"Tied To Your Altar"

"For the Lord Our God has brought us His glory-light." "I offer Him my life in joyous sacrifice." "Tied tightly to your altar I will bring you praise." For you are the God of my life and I lift you high, exalting you to the highest place." Psalms 118:27-28

The 118th Psalm speaks to every believer in every age. The background is said to be the dedication of the restored walls and gates of "Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles in 444B.C. in the time of Ezra and Nehemiah." The Jews in the city were surrounded by enemies who ridiculed and threatened to attack them and stop the work that the Lord had given to them. The rebuilding project took fifty two days and the report of this remarkable and phenomenal accomplishment astounded the nations." The Psalm writer expresses the joy the people experienced as they marveled over what the Lord had done on their behalf." (ref...Be Exultant)

As people of God we must see the Lord in every situation and glorify Him for every victory in the time of trouble. In reading this Psalm it reminded me of a very current moment in my walk with Christ. For 52 days we have been in the season of honoring and celebrating Passover and Pentecost. In those 52 days I believe that it was a rebuilding project in the lives of God's people. Rebuilding our prayer life, rebuilding our faith and trust in God, rebuilding our dedication, devotion and passion for the Lord and the things of His Kingdom. In the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost while the disciples were in the upper room the Holy Spirit came and empowered them with power to build His church by being a witness unto the utter parts of the earth. The scripture describes the amazement of others as they watched the overwhelming supernatural power consuming the apostles. Many declared what a phenomenon and others mocked and took them for a joke as if they were drunk. But in this moment there would soon be miracles, signs and wonders of the Glory of being in the light of our Lord God.

Today I encourage you just as the Psalm writer in this 118th Psalm, to put emphasis on all that the Lord has done for you. In celebration the children of Israel brought a sacrifice and tied it to the altar. God is getting ready to do some phenomenal things in your life, rebuilding and restoring. What will you tie to the altar? Romans 12:1 is something to consider, this declaration made by the Apostle Paul; "I urge you to offer your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice to God, (tied to the altar) an offering that brings Him pleasure, (your ears, eyes, mouths, hands, feet) this is reasonable and the essential worship." The psalm writer expresses that he is offering his life in joy becoming a sacrifice that is tied tight to God's altar, and because of who God is he brings Him nothing but praise, for He realized that God is the source of His life and for this we shout Hallelujah and we give God the highest praise. I challenge you to live your life "Tied To The Altar!"

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
