Going the Wrong Way and Doing the Wrong Things

"Wave upon wave of destruction rolls over the land, until it lies in utter ruin; suddenly, in a moment, every house is crushed. How long must this go on? How long must I see war and death surrounding me? Until my people leave their foolishness, for they refuse to listen to me; they are dull, retarted children who have no understanding. They are smart enough at doing wrong, but for doing right they have no talent, none at all." Jeremiah 4:20-22 The Living Bible

God is like a heartbroken parent warning about the disastrous results of a choice of life-style. However, God allows everyone the freedom to determine his or her own life and destiny. God agonizes at the intensity of sin that still dwells within the hearts of His people. We have been called out to be God's very own, but still have no understanding of Him and what He requires of His children. The word calls us retarted and blockheads who really don't know God. Instead of seeking relationship with Him we search for whatever passions rule us at the moment.

Disorder and chaos are everywhere. Stress is at it's highest levels, but we are still compelled to do wrong rather than do right. Some people are so good at doing wrong that they do not even know how to do good. Our conscience can become so seared that even when we are caught in our wrong we will insist that we have not. Still some of us try to cast God off but His tender mercies still pursue us relentlessly. God's love for us is endless but His judgment must be executed. That is why His hope is that we become more skillful at living Holy than the skills we have in doing wrong.

For the moment wrong seems like it is so much easier to do than when it comes to doing right. Wrong makes it unpainful to get into where as doing right seems to hurt, but later wrong will pay you it's due and the misery behind the moment is far greater than the pain that comes from doing what's right. Being smart at doing wrong is never wise. It may show how clever you are at doing what is opposite of the Father, but does that make you smart or a retart. God gives every one of us abilities and gifts, and believe or not if you choose what's right you can do it. Let's not continue in our actions that cause us to revert to the will of God for our lives.

God is calling us to repentance! Repent is to turn away from. Most of us are in danger because we are going the wrong way and doing the wrong things. But here is another warning sign to help you, God is telling you to turn back. Danger! Wrong way, turn back. Don't refuse to hear His voice, don't be considered a retart or a blockhead. Cleanse your minds and your hearts, not just your bodies, turn from your skillful ways of doing wrong, seek to do what it is right, and live in God's righteousness. Shun evil, and watch the Lord move on your behalf, He will bless and clothe you with all that is His and misery won't ever taunt you again, because you have given yourself to what is right. Give up the wrong way, "Before every man there lies a wide and pleasant road he thinks is right, but it ends in death." (Proverbs 16:25)TLB Which road will you choose? Choose now while you still have time to turn back!

God Bless! If you don't know Christ, choose the road that leads to Him and allow Him to come into your life.

  1. Great Post pastor. We see the signs, we now in our hearts that the Holy Spirit is trying to speak to us, yet and still, we just lunge ahead into deep waters waiting for the sin to overtake us. Thank God he has a life vest that will always rescue us and hopefully then will we stay away from the sin that so easlily capsizes us.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
