The Power of Worship

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Have you ever had one of those days when nothing seems to go right. One of those days when you wanted to tell a few people where to get on and get off. Today was one of those days for me, I became so frustrated that I wanted to get back at something or someone because I felt like everything was coming up agaisnt me. You know how it is when you wake up all excited about the day and before you know it the whole day crashes in a way until you are ready to come out of character. As I began to get angry the Word of God came to my remembrance, "though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, the weapons of our war...

We All Have a Reason To Give God Thanks

Thank the LORD because he is good. His love continues forever. That is what those whom the LORD has saved should say. He has saved them from the enemy, Some people had wandered in the desert lands. They found no city in which to live. They were hungry and thirsty, and they were discouraged. In their misery they cried out to the LORD,and he saved them from their troubles. He led them on a straight road to a city where they could live. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his love and for the miracles he does for people. He satisfies the thirsty and fills up the hungry. God gave the command and healed them, so they were saved from dying. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his love and for the miracles he does for people. Let them offer sacrifices to thank him. With joy they should tell what he has done. Let them praise his greatness in the meeting of the people; Whoever is wise will remember these things and will think about the love of the LORD. Psalms 107 NCV We all have a ...

Signs of the Times

“And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. Luke 21:25 It is now the year 2011, scientist and astronomers say that the earth has shifted. Due to this shift the stars have changed their position, and have included another star. Scientist say there are no longer twelve stars to the horoscope, but there are now 13. A new star named Ophiuchus, which its symbol is the serpent, which is not hard to believe this would be its symbolism. Not only a new star has been added but astrologers say people's zodiac signs have now changed. So what does all this mean? Well for those who are consumed by identifying their character and lifestyle through their zodiac sign this may mean that the Capricorn will no longer be compatible to Taurus because of this shift. But for Christians it shouldn't mean anything more than just another sign of the time. Last night ABC's nightli...

The State of Unity

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:1-6 Last night the president gave his state of the union address. This year with a different look, not one of division but of unity. The idea is to bring the country together as one so that the unity of the state would result in a better America. Unity is a major issue, especially in Christianity. The idea for the two parties seating arrangements stem from division that became more than many Americans could stand. It is the same way for us in the church, the reasons that keep the body of Christ so divided are more than s...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...

Cold, Cold, Hearts

“Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ, and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, Matthew 24:4-8,10-12 This morning many of the region's in our country woke up to extremely cold temperatures. It has been quite some time that we have experienced such frigid weather across our nation. There have been states who have been hit with weather that they have never had to deal with before. Making this unwanted experience of cold, snow and ice a ...

Mind, Mood, Mouth and Meditation

May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you. O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:14 TLB The Mind is the human consciousness that originates in the brain and is manifested especially in thought, perception, emotion, will, memory, and imagination. The principle of intelligence; the spirit of consciousness regarded as an aspect of reality. The faculty of thinking, reasoning, and applying knowledge. Out of this comes the thought process of life and instead of allowing those thoughts to be governed by the word of God we allow our emotions and our imagination to lead us into lives that are not the will of God for His people. There are many of us who allow our minds to lead us into a negative lifestyle plagued with depression, frustration and unbelief. Why stay in that state? God has created us with so much creativity and an imagination that can be used to bring glory to Him. There is definitely a battle that goes on in the mind, but you have the power to...

A Remarkable Reunion

The Son said to him, Father, I have sinned agaisnt heaven and in your sight. I'm no longer worthy to be called your son. "But the Father told his slaves, Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Then bring the fattened calf and slaughter it, and let's celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! So they began to celebrate." Luke 15:21-24 Yesterday in New York a young lady was finally reunited with her natural family after being snatched out of the emergency room almost 23 years ago. At three weeks old she was taken and raised to believe she had been adopted by the woman who abducted her. Not ever feeling like she belonged she began to do an internet search looking up pictures of missing children. Remarkably she comes a cross a picture that looks like her as a baby. She gets pictures of herself as an infant and compares them with the picture on t...

Unforeseen Circumstances

Let Brotherly Love continue. Do not negelect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:1,16 Last night as some of us were so fortunate to be in our nice warm homes there was a community in which we love that was shaken by an unforeseen circumstance. In the Tacony section of Philadelphia a community was rocked by an explosion that no one seen coming. As a result of the explosion a gas worker was killed and other workers were severly injured, others are in stable condition, one of those injured was a Philadelphia Firemen. Due to the timely efforts of the Philadelpha Gas Works and the Police and Fire departments the residents were evacuated before things exploded. To all of you that may not even know the worker who was killed, or those injured, even those that were displaced, I ask you, even though you may be strangers to them, let us show...

A Call to Men and Women of Faith

Now Faith is the assurance (the conformation, the title deed)of the things(we)hope for, being the proof of things (we)do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses). For by (faith-trust and holy fervor born of faith) the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report. By faith we understand that the worlds (during the sucessive ages) were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3 AMP.Bible Yesterday marked another year that we celebrated nationally, the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The book of Hebrews gives us an account of men and women prompted, aroused, motivated and urged by faith to trust God for what seemed to be impossible. Having these men and women as examples has become a blessing to those who believe the word of God. But in our lifetime we ha...
