Trusting In Everything But God

"The Lord says: Cursed is the man who puts his trust in mortal man and turns his heart away from God. He is like a stunted shrub in the desert, with no hope for the future; he lives on the salt-encrusted plains in the barren wilderness; good times pass him by forever. But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. He is like a tree planted along a riverbank, with its roots reaching deep into the water, a tree not bothered by the heat nor worried by long months of drought. It leaves stay green and it goes right on producing all its luscious fruit." Jeremiah 17:5-8 TLB

The man whose trust is in flesh and heart and has departed from the Lord is cursed. Like a twisted desert shrub he does not live, he merely survives. On the other hand, the man who trusts in the Lord is blessed. He is like a flourishing tree with roots by a stream. That man continues to bear fruit even during the heat, especially during the most difficult times in life. Those who trust in God will not be free from trials or adversity, but God will bring fruit and blessing in through those difficulties.

Many of us trust in everything but God. We trust our employers, we trust other's speeches and promises that life will be better. Where is God? Where is our Faith? Our lives are so dependent on what we can touch, and see. But we have ears, but we refuse to listen to God. We allow our circumstances to have the loudest voice, our fear factors take over and we don't trust God. Have you ever called and made an arrangement on a utility bill for example. The person on the other lines makes an agreement with you that your utilities will not be shut off. You immdeiately feel a sense of releif and you put your trust in what the person on the other line has told you. By the way a person you have never seen before. But by the time you get home your power is out and you can't understand, because you trusted the person on the other line. You trusted in their word, but their word meant nothing. God's word is true and He will never break His agreement with us, yet we trust man more.

We must not think to make any creature to be that to us which God has undertaken to be. We honour Him with our lips and actions but our hearts are so far from trusting God. We cannot even be progressive for God because we do not put our trust in Him like we should and so we live in a dry place that cannot produce any fruit. When we put our confidence in man, we cheat ourselves. When better days come they will not come for the one who does not trust in God, but that person will remain in a parched place because their trust lies in flesh and their expectations will be continually frustrated, and when those who have put their trust in the Lord have a harvest, this person shall have none.

How can the creature lean more on the creature, than we do the Creator? Even though we are constantly disappointed, we still lean on the arms of flesh. In the heart is where we trust God. Outwardly we may still seem near to God, but if faith is gone the heart has forsaken God. Though departure from God does not involve sudden destruction, it lowers our spiritual energies, and it dwarfs our whole life. For when we depart from God and live only in worldly confidence, we will receive no real benefit from the blessings that God still sends us, because He is still faithful to us even when we are not. So the person who trusts in self and human resources will have a dried up, empty life.

When trusting in God we can endure life's adversity without anxiety when we trust in the Lord with our whole heart. So why keep putting our trust in sources that run out. Man made resources dry up, but God's resources are never ending. So why do we put our trust and confidence in that which is limited and not the unlimited. Be the man like the tree who's roots remain in the source of nature it trust. Please stop putting your trust in everything but God.

  1. When you plug into the Holy Spirit the blessing will surely come and take over your life. I know cause for years I tried to do it apart from God and lived joyless, working my hand to the bone, but today, I know my life has purpose and I am pursing the dreams that God gave me.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
