"Set Your Gaze"

"Set Your Gaze On The Path Before You. With Fixed Purpose, Looking Straight Ahead," Proverbs 4:25a

What is before your eyes? There is a saying that says outlook determines outcome. With a world full of so much to see, how, what and where do you grab the vision for your path? Social sites have many options to fashion yourself after with filters, props and crops to give a picture of what is not. The pretentious images we view on a daily basis, the fake statuses and fake looks do not impart true life. Many of us begin to stray off the path of our inner being and set our affections on things that affect the affections of our heart. Feasting on the feeds of others and being formed by the words of people we have never met. God says in this Proverb 4:21 to "Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit."

All of the worlds new gimmicks and new technologies have led many off the path that was set before them. Understand that your purpose is fixed, it is definite, set, placed, your days have been put in order to be steadily directed by the leading of the Holy Spirit. For the scripture declares that God with "His own eyes saw your body being formed. Even before you were born, He had written in His book everything you would do." (Psalms 139:16 CEV) It is up to you if you set your gaze on that or something else.

Hebrews 12:2 says that; "We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed our faith within us and who leads us forward into faith's perfection. His example is this; Because His heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be His, He endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!" With that same passion and determination we must continue life's journey on the path that has already been marked out before us. Don't underestimate the value of the path God has determined for you. Get your gaze off others and on the Author. You were not fashioned to live someone else's purpose, there is fixed purpose divinely fashioned for you.

Today I encourage you to look straight ahead, ignore life's distractions, watch where you're going, stick to the path, don't allow yourself to be sidetracked, or take a detour. Stay true to One who is the very core of your being, guard your heart, pay attention and "Set Your Gaze" on eternity.

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda

The State of Unity

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:1-6 Last night the president gave his state of the union address. This year with a different look, not one of division but of unity. The idea is to bring the country together as one so that the unity of the state would result in a better America. Unity is a major issue, especially in Christianity. The idea for the two parties seating arrangements stem from division that became more than many Americans could stand. It is the same way for us in the church, the reasons that keep the body of Christ so divided are more than s
