S.E.E.D. For Today_Garbage
S-cripture "For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him.
Using the language of gains and loss, value and worthless, Paul is letting us know that his decision was not an impulsive act of breaking with the past. Paul considers anything he may be tempted to put his trust in as garbage, so he discards his former advantages and achievement's that he may become one with Christ. For him his personal relationship with God is of paramount importance, nothing is more valuable.
Example Getting rid of, confiscating, renounce, let go, counted as nothing, trash, rubbish, weight.
Exercise There are areas in our lives that we need to shift. There are things that we need to discard in regards to a greater relationship with Christ. Today is garbage day time to get rid of everything that is meaningless, useless and offensive. The smell of garbage can be pretty offensive. What is in you that gives off an aroma, that is not pleasing to God? Do an evaluation of your relationship with God. What do I consider gain? Have I really made the switch, my life for His? Using a journal talk it out with yourself and the Lord.
Devotion Lord I pray today that I gain greater insight of the value of knowing Christ. I pray that I walk forward with no regrets for what I lost but see those losses as gains. Help me not to hark over the past, but to be at peace with my choice. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his own soul? Help me estimate earthly things for there true value compared to you, with the ambition of knowing You more and more.
Today is Garbage Day.
