"But when you follow your own inclinations your lives will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, idolatry, jealousy, anger..... "But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control;" Galatians 5:19-20,22-23
Paul writes in Galatians 5; "I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit's instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won't always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to do. For we naturally love to do evil things that are just the opposite from the things we want to do; and the good things we want to do when the Spirit has His way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us and our wishes are never free from that pressure. But when you follow your own inclinations your lives will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, idolatry, spiritism (encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints. criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group and there will be wrong doctrine, envy, murder, drunkeness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you again as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the kingdom of God." "Those who belong to Christ have nailed their evil desires to His cross and crucified them there. If we are living now by the Holy Spirit's power, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives." 5:14-25
The Bible continually encourages us to walk in love and in the freedom that has come through Christ. This freedom is not a license to sin or to a life of selfishness. Remember that we are slaves commissioned to love one another. But the church is so divided today in so many ways, especially back biting and we are just devouring one another, because of this the church is on the verge of destruction. We should live our lives not independent, but in dependence of the Holy Spirit. The struggle between our flesh and our new nature is real, we talked about it all week. But the Holy Spirit will strengthen us and our evil inclinations will change, our new attitude will be that of the Spirit, bearing the fruit of His nature.
You may have to give up some things that you consider very valuable, but to enjoy the right results and heaven as your reward you must be willing to make the exchange. We are all a slave to something whether good or bad, we cannot expect to harvest the fruit of God when we are sowing corrupt seeds. Freedom in Christ does not give us the right to do what we want, but to do as we should in a way that is pleasing to Him. Living with the right inclinations will always produce the right results. The church has to get rid of the corruption that so defiantly tries to rule us every day. There are so many non-beleivers that have not come yet, but when they come please let them be able see the fruit of the Spirit in your lifestyle and new nature, that the world will beleive that Christ reigns in you!
We want to thank God for a wonderful week. We thank Him for all He has shared with us encouraging us to continue in the race and not remain in bondage to sin. If there is anyone who have read this blog and something in you wants to change please let me know and I will pray for you. But most importantly if you don't know Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, Romans 10:9-10 reads; "For if you confess with your with mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in His heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation. Let me know if that is the decision you made, I would love to hear from you. God Bless!

When we align ourselves with the word of God, we will produce the right spirit and this spirit will help us to produce lasting fruit that survives every season and every climate.
ReplyDeletePastor the posts this week has sent me on a journey of self-examination, and has burned in me a new desire for the things of Christ, to turn away from my old nature and not compromise my walk with him, by pursuing my own lusts and desires. I have not only made up my mind but I have also followed thru with actions, that my fruit may be seen... So please keep me in prayer and thanks....MommyLuv well said...
