"I want to remind you that in the last days there will come scoffers who will do every wrong they can think of, and laugh at the truth. This will be their line of argument: "So Jesus promised to come back did He? He'll never come! Why as far back as anyone can remember everything has remained exactly as it was since the first day of creation. They deliberately forget this fact: that God did destroy the world with a mighty flood, long after He made the heavens by the word of His command, and used the waters to form the earth and surround it. And God has commanded that the earth and the heavens be stored away for a great bonfire at the judgment day, when all ungodly men will perish. But don't forget this, dear friends, that a day or a thousand years from now is like tomorrow to the Lord. He really isn't really being slow about His promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way, But He is waiting, for the good reason that He is not willing that any should perish, and He is giving more time for sinners to repent. The day of the Lord is surely coming, "Dear friends while you are waiting for these things to happen and for Him to come, try hard to live without sinning; and be at peace with everyone so that He will be pleased with you when He returns." 2 Peter 3:3-10a,14 (The Living Bible)
In the last weeks our focus has been on African Americans who have made major differences in the quality of life for blacks in this country. But we still see the rise of many fighting for civil rights all over the world. Many in the Middle East have now come together as a force to drive out dictatorships in their countries. The passion to have freedom has even cost protesters their lives. Bloodshed for freedom, is now the attitude of many in the middle east.
Freedom is so valuable, and something many would love to experience in these countries. Here is the valuable lesson that can be learned and spread throughout the world, that our freedom has been purchased in Christ Jesus. He shed His blood for the world, that those of us who would have never experienced freedom ever, could experience it through Him. His love for us is so great that He laid down His life so we could live in Him and live eternally with Him. For those of us that have never experienced fighting any freedom battles of that magnitude, should appreciate what has been done for us, that we did not have to suffer in the war of freedom and equality, thanks to those who went for us.
The one war that we do fight daily is the war on sin. Sin never wants to give us freedom from its grip. Instead of fighting sin on a daily basis, many believer's get tired and give into the demands of the one trying to be an unfair leader, this dictator name sin. But I would like to say to every reader, don't let sin trip you up and miss the biggest event to take place in this generation, which is the second coming of Christ. He is coming again, let nothing deceive you into thinking that He's not. He has only delayed His coming because He loves mankind and doesn't want anyone to perish and live an eternal life of torment. Although many have been saying for centuries that Christ is returning and He hasn't yet, does not mean it's not going to happen. Good thing for you and for me that we have had the time we needed to get right with God.
As the tensions in the Middle East continue, let us appreciate the freedom we have in Christ and share it with someone else that has not experienced freedom in Christ Jesus. Be mindful, He is coming back, it could be today, it could be tomorrow. The Lord is soon to return, it is definite. Fight for your freedom and reach out and help someone else obtain theirs, for Christ is coming again to free us from this world and take us home! Be at peace with everyone and please pray for those in the Middle East.

Great blog Pastor Ray! It is so easy to take God for granted. Especially His return because we get accustomed to waking up each morning; going on with our day; always believing that tomorrow will come. We use our freedom in Christ to sin with the belief that He will be there for us to ask His forgiveness. Taking advantage of His grace is not the way He wants us to live. As stated freedom is valuable and we must use it wisely; to spread the gospel of Christ for others to live, not to enact the deceptions of the enemy which only lead to more bondage and death.
ReplyDeleteI concur Shawntae, we must live each day with an expectation of Christ return. It is so easy to take Christ for granted because we are afforded mercy and grace everyday. But, we have to learn to be sin-less each and everyday so that we can grow and mature in the ways of Christ. This is the only way we will win others to Christ.
