PERSEVERANCE

S.E.E.D. For Today_Perseverance

Scripture "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:4 NIV

The book of James in the 1st chapter begins with a greeting and then this analogy of going through. He writes "consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." One of the key words in that verse is develop. God is developing perseverance through your trials and tribulations. Perseverance produces staying power and toughness. The more test we have the tougher we get. Perseverance develops when we are repeatedly being beaten and tested but prevail. The more test we pass the tougher we become. Paul said it like this in Romans 5:3 "we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance." Trials have a purpose in your life, because it tries your faith, and faith produces perseverance so that you stay on the road God intends for you. Perseverance has a work to do in your life, it is on an assignment to push you into maturity, that you may fulfill the Will of God. Perseverance is working when you experience all kinds of trials, economic stress, disappointments, criticism, domestic pressures, illnesses...etc. Don't rebel against the things that irritate you, they are means of opportunity for perseverance to cultivate itself, James says that it must finish it's work.

Example the quality that allows someone to continue trying to do something even though it is difficult. Never giving up even through failure and opposition.

Exercise Read James 1:1-18 Journal and talk to God about your struggles. You have to understand the trials that you are experiencing is for development that you may grow in the purpose and plan of God. Your faith must be tried so that you will develop this toughness called perseverance, it has to finish it's work in your life, that you may be complete, not lacking in anything.

Devotion Lord my prayer today is I know that I'm next!! What You have for me is for me. But how can I be next if I don't persevere. I pray today that I allow it to finish it's work in me so that I can mature and  be complete. I pray that whatever and whoever irritates me that I not rebel against it, the SEED today has told me that those things or situations that come to irritate me are opportunity for perseverance to cultivate itself in me. Lord I thank You for making me tough in tough times, for developing in me the staying power that I need in Jesus Name Amen.

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
