Global Warning!

"It is the thought-life that pollutes. For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts of lust, theft, murder, adultery, wanting what belong to others, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, pride, and all other folly. All these things come from within; they are what pollute you and make you unfit for God." Mark 7:20-23 (The Living Bible)

What is global warming?

Global warming is when the earth heats up (the temperature rises). It happens when greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane) trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, which increases the temperature. This hurts many people, animals, and plants. Many cannot take the change, so they die.

Global warming is doing many things to people as well as animals and plants. It is killing algae, but it is also destroying many huge forests. The pollution that causes global warming is linked to acid rain. Acid rain gradually destroys almost everything it touches. Global warming is also causing many more fires that wipe out whole forests. This happens because global warming can make the earth very hot. In forests, some plants and trees leaves can be so dry that they catch on fire.

There is also much controversy that follows global warming. Some say it is a myth, but pollution can easily destroy any quality of life, as it progresses. So the government is doing many things to help stop global warming. The government made a law called The Clean Air Act so there is less air pollution. Global warming is making people get very bad illnesses that could make them disabled, very sick, and sometimes even die. The Clean Air Act is making many companies change their products to decrease these problems. Part of the law says that you may not put a certain amount of pollutants in the air.

The bible states that it is the thought-life that pollutes an individual. Under the surface of the hearts lies corruption that pollutes man's behavior. Just as global warming and the pollution that is causing enviromental problems, I look at these as an example of the internal problems we have that cause us to do things that will eventually destroy our quality of life. What comes out of a man is what defiles him and makes him unfit for God. The heart is the core for motivation, deliberation, and intention. A polluted thoughtlife is where all our bad attitudes and bad activities arise.

Global Warning.....Jesus was making it perfectly clear that doing the right things does not mean that a person is right on the inside. No amount of hand washing can change the selfish nature of the heart or make it clean. There is only one way and His name is Jesus. Placing your trust in Him for your salvation can change you from the inside out. Global Warning.....Just because you attend church does not mean that your heart is right and that you do not live a polluted lifestyle. As the goverment in our country has taken steps to help alleviate, pollution and global warning, we too must take heed to the government of God and His word, He will create in us a clean heart, renew the right spirit in us, that we may live a life unpolluted and free from sin.

  1. Amen to that. Being a church goer and everything, I agree that at times I have been very mean and hurtful becuase my heart was not right. When the heart is not right, it will throw everything off balance. It is time to get our hearts right towards God and others.

  2. It's so funny because the heart is mostly associated with love, but in truth the heart holds all kinds of wickedness. Only when we turn our hearts to Christ and learn to love through him can we truly love. So when someone says I love you with all my heart...what are they truly saying????? Do they possess a clean heart or do they still hold a heart full of wickedness?

Bursting Out Of It!

S.E.E.D. For Today:  Scripture: "Is this not the the fast which I have chosen: Loosen the bonds of wickedness." ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Explanation: There should be the right motive when we fast. The people of God in Isaiah observed but there was no change in them. When fasting we do not want to look at it as a religious ritual, but a means to transformation. The fruit of repentance ought to be evident in relationship with one another and our neighbor. If we fast and persist in arrogance, stubbornness, fighting and strife then we are only doing this out of routine. Exercise: Prayer is important to experience the grace and power of God when fasting. Without the consistency of prayer we will not see breakthrough. God is challenging us to do the fast He has chosen, the first means of business is releasing or loosing the bonds of wickedness. Whatever besets itself and entangles you again under the same slave system of missing the mark with God has to let you go. I challenge you ...

UN-DO!

S.E.E.D. For Today: Scripture: "Undo The Heavy Burdens" ( Isaiah 58:6 ) Example: There was a great deal of injustice in the land and with the rich exploiting the poor and the rulers using their authority only to make themselves richer. It was a conflict between truth and lies, just like in our land today. The people of God were no different in operating under the same system as this. But God called them out and wanted them to understand that their fasting was in vain if they did not undo the heavy burden they placed on others while still outwardly devoting themselves to religion or as they thought to God. Exercise: Let's invite the Holy Spirit to solve problems and aid us in lifting loads and overcome barriers that keep us and our loved ones from walking joyfully in the Lord. In self-denying love and care for others, let's undo any heavy burden or untie any yoke that we may have placed upon friends, family, associates or even employees. Devotion: Lord toda...

What to Wear, What Not to Wear!

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:2,5-8,13 TLC has a show entitled What Not to Wear. In this reality tv series family and friends recommend people for total transformation. The concept of the program is to take an individual who has not been able to give up garments that are old and out dated, clothing that leaves them lookin...
